Not a band - just one guy with a computer and time to spare. Occasionally, I might find one or more others to help out with vocals - not my strong point.
Band/artist history
Not much of a history for me. Used to gig a lot, but I was primarily a recording engineer who happened to play a bit, rather than a musician.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Not any more - but I used to play regularly some years ago. I wouldn't mind doing it again, both for the fun and the ability to bounce ideas off other players. However, there's a distinct lack of available musicians around here, so it's not likely to happen. 'Moments' - yes, plenty of those.
Your musical influences
Wide range of influences, although mainly towards the more melodical these days. Always been interested in 'latin' rhythms, but I try not to pigeonhole what I write. I have a 'jazz' tendency, but I'm not a good enough musician to really explore that area in depth.
What equipment do you use?
I'm 'electronic', inasmuch as most of my stuff is produced using a midi sequencer, but I don't do that sort of music - I'm too old to understand a lot of it. I don't have a lot of equipment, I just try to work with what little I have. Sonar and Audition for software. Soundfonts using an SB card, plus a couple of (cheap) external modules (SC7 and VZ-8M), audio with a LynxOne. I have a Yamaha 01x mixer and input music using a Prophet 2000 keyboard and Ztar midi guitar controller, with straight guitar on the odd occasion. I do have a good monitoring system though (as an ex-recording engineer, I couldn't do without it).
Anything else?
I'm not a prolific writer and I start a lot more than I ever finish - mainly because I decide a lot of it isn't worth persevering with. I can be fairly brutal with respect to my own music. What I would really like to do is to find someone with some good musical ideas for a collaboration project - I believe it would help to concentrate my own ideas and I tend think of myself more as an arranger than a writer, so it would be good for me if someone else came up with the basic ideas for a change. I live in the sticks, but a 'net collaboration could be fun and I know enough about the technology to make that work.
